The Canadian Human Rights International Organization (CHRIO), is a non-profit human rights monitoring body based in Toronto, Canada. Missions of CHRIO include: defending and fight for fundamental rights such as life, dignity, liberty, security and gender equality.

In the past, CHRIO has taken legal actions across the globe to fight against all forms of discrimination, including but not limited to discrimination against race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, physical and mental disabilities, in accordance to the (UDHR) Universal Declaration of Human Rights set forth by the United Nations.

CHRIO@York aims to raise awareness on human rights violations around the world by introducing them to the student body through tabling events and organizing campaigns. Students will have opportunities to gain hands-on experience on working with lawyers and social workers in the field of human rights.
